Cheap monitor questions

I'm thinking about getting a cheap monitor for an old computer that I have. I went to Sams Club and noticed they have 2 - 19" models in my price range, but I can't find any information on them from the Internet.

The two I am thinking about are Orion

And

Samsung

I am planning on going in the next day or two and seeing if someone will hook up these two monitors to one of the computers they have on display there. Any advice will be appreciated

If the above links don't work you might be able to get to them from this link. Sams club monitors

The samsung supports higher resolution than listed imeadiately below the pic of the monitor.

I've been to both manufacturers websites and they don't list those particular monitors.

Thanks

Will

PS. I'm not going to buy one unless I can see a demonstration. I like the flat screen one, but I am leary because of it is an unknown name. Samsung has a technical support provider for their monitors that is about 80 miles from where I live. Plus Sams Club has a 90 money back guarantee. Both monitors have a 3 year warranty.

Any advice?

The Samsung looks like an end-of-line model or may be a Samtack 19" made by Samsung.

No idea on the Orion, support could be spotty.

Cornerstone has this.

Thanks for the reply. Thanks for posting.

I am wondering about the support for the Orion. Shipping would probably hurt me on the one you mentioned, though I like the 5 year warranty. I have also thought about a monitor at Staples- an Envision or something. It seemed to get decent reviews, but I'll have to check the model # again.

Thanks again.

I just saw today an ad at Best Buy for a Samtron 19" flat. $169 with two $40 rebates. It is a .23 mm dp but that is probably horizontal. but still not to bad. I think I may get one just for a spare. Check out the Best Buy web site.

will this old computer be used by u, or by someone else, elsewhere in ur place? if its going to be also used by u, might i suggest a kvm instead of a another monitor 🙂

bhof:

I see a Samtron 17" listed on their site with a $40.00 rebate, but Sams Club has the same model for $99.00 I think. (Not sure about it being a flat screen, it was a 76 something or other model number.)

Thanks for the interest. I picked up the Orion 19" today. It seems ok so far. I have to get used to the flat screen after so many years of looking at a curved screen. I have never really looked at any real expensive monitor, so I probably wouldn't know what kind of image quality those offer. I just hooked it up to my main rig and am playing with the settings. I reckon it'll be ok. My eyes have been pretty adaptable in the past. Hopefully they'll work it out.

Spanky007:

I will have two computers, one at each end of the house. I will be the main one using both of them. I also was thinking of dual monitors in the near future ( a year or so off ). I use my main rig mostly in my room, but sometimes friends and family come over and they want to use a computer, so I have one on the other end of the house they can use.

Thanks for posting guys.

Will
