Cheap method to mount speakers on wall/ceiling?

Greetings.

I have some logitech z560's at home. Is there a cheap method to mount these bad boys on a wall or ceiling? I tried to just screw them into the ceiling...but that didnt work. I saw some speaker mounts at best buy, but they were like $50 a pop. Screw that. Any ideas from you hardware people?

P.S. Sorry if this is not the correct forum - just not sure where else to post it.

Why not mount them to the wall using the factory speaker stand/WALL MOUNTS?? You'll have to go to your local hardware store, however, to purchase whatever type of screws you need for the type of wall you're going to attach the speakers to. Also, I would suggest that you buy some washers (in case the screw head is too small to securely hold the wall mount flush against the wall (the holes on the Z560's speaker stands are kind of large-->that's why you would need a washer with your screw).

I tried that. I bought large washer and tried screwing them into the ceiling using the metal wall mounts. By wall mounts do you mean the metal stands? Ceiling I guess wasn't strong enough to hold them, and I doubt the dry wall would be unable to also...any more ideas or a guide on how to mount them?

How do those dry wall anchors work? Do I screw the anchor in and then the screw into the anchor? I only know computer hardware not real hardware.

Thanks again for all the info.

Using those plastic thumbtacks to hold my 560's on the walls, still working after 3 months :)

I don't know if this link will work (since it has a session ID in it), but it's to a 50-Piece #8-10 x 7/8" Plastic Wall Anchor with Screws for only a couple bucks at Home Depot.

I prefer the ribbed type. Generally you simply drill a 1/4" hole in the wall, insert the shield with your hand by pushing it in, then drive the screw in. You'll need these things all the time for hanging curtain rods, towel bars, pictures and even speakers!

Edit: Here's a link that works.
