i'm looking for a cheap black and white laser printer. i prefer it to have non-bloated drivers and is easy to share the printer across the network. how are dell laser printers?
I have an HP1020, I think they're around 110-120. Great printer. But it can only hold 150 pages, so that might be a problem. But it's fast and prints great.
First off: Do a search. This exact same question has come up many times.
2nd: I like my little HP LJ 1000. Though you probably cant find it. So I recommend a 1020.
I still believe HP makes the best lasers. Especially in the low-end catergory.
Their low-ends are actually good quality and ship with a full toner cart.
The drivers for the entry level printers are pretty simple. In fact, XP with SP2 has generic drivers that make my LJ 1000 work.
Also with XP, they are real easy to share on a large or home network, provided the attached machine is turned on and booted up. You dont even have to log in.
As was already said, most of the small units only hold 150 sheets and most dont have an expansion option. But 150 is still a lot better than most inkjets with their 40 or below trays.
