Cheap Laser or Spend Extra?

I'm currently debating whether I should just buy a real cheap laser printer like the samsung 1740 or if I should spend extra and get a more expensive one. I'm attracted to features like built in network and duplexing specifically since I plan to print a lot of long documents. I just don't know if these more expensive models are overkill for home use or if they are worth it in the long run since their toners print more pages. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, Rob

i have a laserjet from HP, the 1012, and it has so far been running completely on the stock toner. I've printed around 1500 pages so far (thats a guess), and it's still running strong. THe printer cost me only $80 last year, since i got in on a major deal from office depot (with coupons, rebates, etc, i managed to bring it to that price). I really dont see the point of built in networking and stuff for home use, since you can just connect it to one computer and share it over the network.

If you plan on printing alot of long documents, and you need the extra features like duplexing, network, etc., consider picking up a higher end second-hand HP laser printer.

An optional $40 maintenance kit will make it print like new:

Add some cheap ass toner...

More cheap toner here.

And you have a high-speed, midrange laser printer which will tear through those long print jobs without breaking a sweat.

Good luck!😀

I was thinking of going with the networking because the computer I would have to network it through is old (not usb 2) and I dont leave it on all the time. Because of this I thought it might just be easier to buy one with the networking built in so I can always print from my wireless laptop.
