They have free shipping and $100 rebates on most of thier laptops, plus you can add a USB Floppy drive for $49.99-$50 rebate. Do a search for the HPShopping coupon for 10% off your order (for some reason it doesn't take 10% off the floppy drive, but it would only be $4.99 off, so no biggie). On top of that they have free shipping and a 12 months same as cash deal! here's what I got:

HP usb floppy drive 1 $49.99
HP pavilion ze1202 1 $1,199.99

subtotal $1,249.98
discount -$120.00

tax $0.00
shipping $0.00

total $1,129.98
- $150 rebates $ 979.98

The ze1202 is a 1.2gHZ AMD Duron (good laptop processor!) with 256MB, 20 gig hard drive, 14" screen, and DVD/CDRW combo drive. They also have the ze1201, which is the same except with an AMD XP1400+ processor, 128MB RAM, and a DVD only drive for $899 after $150 in rebates. This is probably the best deal around for a laptop now (and a fairly decent one at that!) The 12 months same as cash requires you to sign up for an HPShopping card (easy) and takes about 10 minutes to get.

Students and teachers, don't forget about their academic discount program.

HP Education

Save another 5%... right now I have the 1201 in my cart for $930 BEFORE the $100 rebate... so tempting...

edit: oh yeah, forgot about this part: no tax unless you live in AL, CA, TN, UT, or WI, and free shipping...

You don't know much about processors then.

A Duron is faster than a celeron and nearly as fast as a PIII. It's low power consumption make it ideal in a laptop.

while you are correct, i think he is referring to the fact that durons are really really cheap.

A 1.2 Ghz Duron is not much cheaper than say a Athlon XP 1600+.

This sounds like a deal, it is so tempting to get it espically considering that they have the 12th month same as cash program.

I work for HP and can get these things for 30% off.....;)

The downside is that I have to pay 16% German sales tax :disgust:

I can't post it here, but if you search Google for "HPShopping.com coupons" you should find it with a couple of clicks. It expires 9/15/02.

Just got mine today...this thing ROCKS!!!! It's all black and silver, with all BLUE LEDS :D Looks like a modder made it or something heheheh. All the people in my office were drooling with envy (my boss was ticket because he just dumped $1700 on a Dell a month ago with lower specs and 1/2 the coolness factor). Anyway, the deals are still there (10% off +$100 rebate+ 12 months same as cash), so go nuts!
