I've never been outside the US. I desperately need to travel but I have no money. is there some way I can visit a totally different culture for very little money? where are the cheapest places to go?

Canada and Mexico.

:D

Really though, the big problem with intercontinental travel (what you want), or cost rather, is the flight overseas. Even if you only spend $15-20 a day on food, and stay at hostels, you still pay $500-1000 for a plane ticket.

for a change of culture you dont need to go aboad. different states around the country offer wide varieties of culture especially from cali. i suggest taking a road trip all around the country, all you have to pay for is gas, food, and lodging. and that way you don't give your hard earned money to the canadians.

hmm maybe I will drive around the states. I just found it costs about $130 round trip for greyhound to tijuana so maybe I'll do that.
