If you need shoes and you live around DC, you might want to drive down to the Potomac Mills outlet center in Prince William (Woodbridge area). Link to outlet center
There is a Track 'N Trail outlet there that is having a "Going Out Of Business Sale". Apparently it has been going on for a while because there are still signs posted that say "30% off". However, as of Sunday they were down to 60-70% off EVERYTHING in the store.
Track 'N Trail sells durable shoes, lots of lug soles such as Doc Martens, Skechers, and similar leather shoes/boots. They also have tons of sandals (both leather and Teva types) and they had slippers and other stuff too.
For men, the picking were fairly slim if you don't wear sandals or have very large or small feet. The store is total chaos and shoes are everywhere so I had to hunt for a pair in my size (10.5) but I found a nice pair of brown shoes I can wear to work or casually.
My girlfriend had much better luck. She got a pair of leather Doc Martens sandals and a pair of Doc boots, as well as some black Birkenstock clogs (there were others she wanted, too!). Anyways, the retail prices of the shoes we bought was over $400 but we only paid about $160. The couple behind us bought about $500 worth of shoes - :Q - at 60% off, that's a lot of pairs! My guess is they were also buying some as Christmas gifts because they were so cheap.
I don't know how much longer the store will be open (you might want to call first) or if the prices will drop even further, but I thought it was a good deal.
So if you are strong enough to tear your significant other away from a shoe sale 😛, you might wanna check it out.
