I live in a noisy environment. A seven year old, two shrill birds, road noise... argh.

I'm looking for a set of headphones that block out the outside world reasonably well without costing as much as a European vacation.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

How cheap? The best option would probably be to find some JVC FX-33 (I think thats the right model number) "marshmallows" and then buy replacement tips from another brand (not sure which brand it is, but it seems to be Shure or maybe Entymotic which fits them and isolates better than the standard ones). The standard plugs on those (they are technically earbuds, not IEMs, so they're more comfortable to my ears) isolate pretty well. I think you can get a pair for $20 or so. The cheapest full headphone that I know with good isolation is the Sennheiser HD-280s, but they're $75+.
