Cheap health insurance?

Scarpozzi

My future wife is going to be graduating from college in 2 weeks. The problem is that when she graduates, she'll be forfeiting her insurance and we're not planning to get married until either Spring or Fall. What's her best option until we tie the knot and she can get on my policy? She's 22 and doesn't have any current conditions that would cause any expected problems... Thanks-

can you get insurance from work ?

it will be expensive from other places such as blue cross and blue shield.

I have health insurance through Nationwide (same company that I have my car/renters through).

It's ~$61/mo for decent health insurance. Office co-pays are $35 and I have to pay for any procedures done at the office out of pocket. Prescription drugs are something like a $15 copay (but it can be higher for non-generics).

I'm 24 and in good health, so I only keep it just to have my bases covered.

Is she a grad student or undergrad?

As a grad student at both UIUC and at UCSB, I was offered a chance to extend my student health insurance policy for a few months as I transistioned to a new school/job. The insurance was also retroactiveable (??) meaning that I could buy into it only if I found out that I needed it later (if I ended up in the hospital).

If she's an undergrad, she may still qualify to be put under her parents.

Most college grads get insurance through their employers... she's not getting a job?

Oh, and if you're in California, you can insure "domestic partners" through your workplace insurance at many companies... but you're in Tennessee.

Good luck!

Free Quotes. Got mine from there. $95/month for $1000 deductible
Thanks....looks like she can get short-term insurance from them for pretty cheap. If she can't get an extension on her parents' plan, we may go this route until I can get her on my insurance.
