I'm looking to switch away from Ralph's. Anyone know of cheaper alternatives? How do Von's or Albertson's compare?

Must go East to 99 Ranch, Food 4 Less, Gigante in order to save on groceries in Los Angeles.

Hmm, there's 3 Food 4 Less's within 8 miles of here. Any difference between the one on Western and Jefferson?

And are they owned by Ralph's or something? They're phone # is (800) 4RA-LPHS

there's food 4 less in the bay area! my local one turned into a food maxx, and there's also pak n save. all of them are like that.

if you want cheaper groceries, buy them on sale. and become a coupon fiend.

food 4 less to me is just cheap quality ralphs. i like my food ... minimally unaltered. you can also go to asian markets (there's a market in ktown galleria and one in ktown plaza, along with marketworld) which has random cheap stuff, along with huge mutated fruits and vegetables.

LA Bay area?
Every time I see someone say Bay Area, I'll always think of the SF Bay...

Yes. Less overhead = cheaper prices.

If you're young / in college try Trader Joe's. Lots of good prepared and frozen foods cheap.

What she said, Cindy knows what she is talking about.

I'd suggest starting at GroceryGame.com or *cough cough* certain forums *cough cough*.

Last weekend my wife and I went shopping at Albertsons, our subtotal was $38 ... after sales, price matching, coupons, DOUBLE coupons and rebates that amount dropped to $21. Nearly 50% off the original price. Yes it's a little hassle and inconvenient but the extra 30 minutes a week = $17 in savings. Well worth it if you ask me.
