My girlfriend's in desperate need of a desktop to do Photoshop/Illustrator/Indesign work for school. I've got everything but a monitor and a video card.
She does no video work. Most of her projects use < 1gig of ram. 70% are less than 250Megs. Currently working in CS 5.5 but should be moving to CS 6 before the year is out.
My budget for a video card is $100, but I'd like to get that down to about $50 if I can. I'm looking at AMD cards, but I'm not sure how old of a card I can get to take advantage of GPU acceleration. Also, I know some FirePro cards are in the $50-75 range, but I don't know if those would be a good option.
As far as a monitor goes. I need an IPS/eIPS panel with an Anti Glare coating. The cheaper the better. I think I'm stuck with Dell's U2X12HM line. I'm open to other suggestion that are cheaper. Really want to get down to the $150-200 range if I can, but I'm ok with the $250-330 for the dells if that's my best option.
Thanks for your time and suggestions.
