Cheap & good registered ECC memory for Opteron?

I have been trying to find 512Mb sticks of good quality, fast registered ECC memory for a dual Opteron system. As an added bonus I'm also aiming for cheap price, which excludes many of the otherwise good modules from the running. So far there have been four candidates that have stayed in the race:

Corsair's "ultra stable" PC3200 (CM72SD512RLP-3200)

OCZ PC3200 (OCZ400512SSER)

OCZ PC3200 (OCZ400512ELER)

Patriot PC3200 Extreme Performance (PEP5123200ERLL)

They're all the same price, around $75 per 512Mb stick. The only one I have been able to find any reviews of has been the third one, which I believe was the memory reviewed at Driverheaven, and which got beaten by a Corsair ECC memory (albeit other than the one listed here). The other memories are mysteries.

Would any of you have any experience with these memories? Have you heard anything about these memories? Which one would you recommend?

As I wrote in the beginning, these are for dual Opteron workstations. While they're mostly used for heavy 2D content creation they will also be used for gaming, so the memory should also be speedy if at all possible. These being Opteron systems, I don't think overclocking will be a high priority... if at all possible to begin with.

Well, I'm slightly leaning towards the memories with faster timings, i.e. the second OCZ and the Patriot, on account of the one-cycle latency caused by the register chip. I don't know if it's in any way relevant, what with the memory controller in Opterons and Athlon64s reputedly not being too sensitive to memory latencies, but it's an excuse to reduce the options to two 🙂

Anyone have general experiences with Patriot's non-XBL EP memory in comparison to OCZ 2-3-2 memories?

Aye, the OCZ stuff looks good and seems to have a solid reputation. Would you happen to know what the difference between the two OCZ memories is, beyond the timings and the heatspreader? I recently bought a pair of regular OCZ 3-3-3 gigabyte sticks over their 2-3-2 gigabyte sticks because the ones with more relaxed timings were, reputedly, more overclockable. I wonder if something similar could be going on here?
