Topic Title: Cheap Gas on the Way!

You honestly believe the Oil Barons & Politicians would LOWER prices???

Seems to me gas has dropped more than 50 cents on average in the last month. And it's dropped by almost 50% in the past.

Dave, why do you always argue against history? Do you ever think before you spew your ignorant, knee-jerk nonsense?

Gas has not dropped where I am, still paying $3 a gallon.

They've apparently only dropped the prices in areas that lower paid folks were hurting the most.

Houston isnt exactly a "lower paid" city and gas has fallen here over 50 cents..
gas is now 2.45 =)

and I work for Chevron in IT.. things are good here today =)

Sucks to be you then. Bend over and take it like a man.

$2.39 here in the Grand Rapids area. I would almost bet the farm that it is going to keep going down. I've heard reports that some expect prices to be under $2 per gallon by Thanksgiving.

Um, no. Gas prices have tumbled all over the nation, Dave.

Fist google news link:

http://www.arkansasleader.com/2006/09/top-story-lower-gas-prices-please.html

In nearby states, Louisiana is averaging $2.75 per gallon, Missouri?s average is $2.60, Oklahoma is at $2.63 and Texas is at $2.66.

and that's cheap now?

Brainwashing process has been 110% completed on you. Job well done

Dave, prices dropped by an average of 40-50 cents.

Not only were you wrong with your first post, you were wrong about current gas prices in your own fscking state.

And then you try this nonsense to cover yourself?

No, I said gas is $2.25 where I live. Where I work it is still $3, try reading, may help some.

I thought the country was against that sort of thing?

You don't think they will raise prices after the Election???

I did read, Dave. Nice try again at covering yourself. Too bad you're too fscking stupid to do it convincingly.

Yeah we can't forget Florida though and how Cuba is allowing China to drill there.

I always like imagining just how deep that is, and under the ocean, it is amazing.

Gas prices will tumble for the runup to the Nov elections and then soar right back up to where it was by Christmas, and stay there for a long time.

Same as it ever was. Don't drink the political kool-aid.

May I ask where the valid evidence is that gas prices are being lowered for political reasons?

CT's don't need evidence...lack of evidence is their proof.

And oh yeah....you folks that constantly complain about oil profits. This kind of drilling and exploration is only made possible because of those profits.

WRONG! Those profits were posted AFTER the expenses were paid to fund those explorations. The 36 BILLION dollar profit was just that, PROFIT!

Profit dollars mean much less than margin. IIRC, their margin remained the same during this "OMG, OIL RIPOFF!!1111" garbage.

Well, I said it in another thread, but why not here as well? The original spike at the begining of 2006 was helped largely by the energy bill, which required our gasoline to switch to 10% ethanol. We didn't actually have the supplies or the means of transportation or infrastructure in large parts of the country, ultimately causing shortages (lack of supply & high demand equals one screwed consumer).

As for the discovery in the OP, it's nice to see them find more, but we really just need to adjust our habits. The prices will continue to spike as long as we continue to demand so much oil. If people want to blame someone so badly, look in the mirror -- that's where you can find most of the blame.

You don't really believe that, do you? The first part of your post should make it obvious why the second part makes no sense - it takes such a long time for oil to form that the rate of production can't possibly keep up with our rate of consumption.

It's called return on investment... oil companies invest billions in exploration and drilling, how can you fault them for wanting a decent return on that investment?
