Hey are there any tips or tricks on getting the best deals on airlines?

Want to go to the Bahamas but its 600+ bucks for a non stop trip, maybe 400+ if I want to layover in Florida for 6 hours. I've heard the prices fluctuate constantly but its hard to really tell what the deals are when using orbitz and sites like that..

I'm pretty sure there are some coupon codes if you book a flight and hotel package, if you book a cheap hotel, it might even make it cheaper than the flight alone. I got my flight and 5 night stay for $4xx a few months ago.

look early and look often. try all the sites & aggregators, and don't forget the airlines that don't share their fares (ex. southwest).

make sure you arent paying a premium booking through orbitz et al. instead of directly through the airline.
