For low cost printing with better quality than with cartridges like MegaToners sells, you can buy quality bulk ink and fill empty cartridges.

In my quest for quality and cost, Global Ink seems to have the best deal on empty cartridges, with $2.95 shipping. I don't know about their ink. They even have cheap seeled vacuum empties to ease filling. You can reuse cartridges many times, however they should only be refilled with the same ink to prevent stability and weird printing issues.

As to bulk ink, I have been using MediaStreet Plug-N-Play ink with very good results. A 4 oz. bottle of ink will fill about 12 Epson cartridges. So the ink cost is about $2 for color, $3 for photo printers, and 60¢ for black. I did a lot of research in the photography forums on ink, and the Plug-N-Play inks seem to be about the best. Virtually identical to original Epson inks in color and with no bleed problems common with the ink in cheap cartridges.

Original Epson cartridges at a discount. I pulled this link from the yahoo forum.

Really good FAQ for inkjets from MIS Associates.

Ink from MIS Associates. Some say this is better than Epson in color gamut and MediaStreet ink. You will be happy with either I believe, and MediaStreet ink is a little cheaper.

Save yourself the time and trouble and buy already made cartridges from the internet. I used to refill epson cartridges and it isn't worth it. Epson uses a sponge in their cartridges and you can't get that much ink in them. You end up making more of a mess than anything. My boss took a little vacation a while back and while he was gone, I started buying them off the net and have done so ever since. He was a firm believer in refilling till he saw the price and quality of the cartridges I was buying. Not to mention, epson uses a different ink than most and only a select few companies have reproduced it that actually work. The refill kits have not so good ink and you spend more time cleaning the print heads than you do actually printing.
