So i go to play a burned DVD on my laptop.... and it works for about a half hour, and then begins to skip a lot. I figured it had to do with the heat or something, but then I go an play a real DVD and it works fine..... are the DVDs i got from newegg (100 for $25) too cheap to be played?

they are AVB DVDs from Newegg.. and that 16X dual layer NEC burner. Would it make sense that the DVD doesnt read right when it gets too hot or something?

DVD's for 25 cents? I don't see how they could be good, unless newegg screwed up.

I have never had a problem playing any of my backup DVD's in any player, and I use midle of the road quality memorex mostly.

hmmm. It COULD be my laptop DVD drive, but like I said, real DVDs work fine in it.... I dont really wanna have to buy another ream of DVDs and re-copy all these. Maybe I can try putting my laptop on a desk or something so it doesnt get so hot

How can anything be the wrong forum in off topic dude? Sometimes I post something here first before I go to a specific forum for help.

Because we have a forum called General Hardware and another one called Technical Support. This would fit into either one of those. Off Topic would be something that doesn't fit into any of those forums.

make sure you are not burning too fast.

sometimes your media will burn at 8x when it should really be burned at 4x

Off Topic could be anything though. Besides, I usually only check here and what if I could've helped the guy (which I can't in this case)?

Anyways, as far as the problem goes, I know that on some players only + media works and on others only - media works. What kind are they?

Well, why don't we just have one huge forum then. Why bother having any of the other forums at all?

I mean, its what everyone should do right?

Hmm, I just ordered a new video card, but the resolution is messed up. Should I post in the video forum? Nah, Off Topic is for everything! Oh, and since I have that new video card, I should ask if anyone in Off-Topic wants to buy my old card.

Oh! What about some new information on the Bush administration. Off Topic will give me a better response then Politics and News.

Media is cheezy. That's what you get when you buy cheap generic media.
Next time don't be cheap :p

I've come across Optodisc's that ID as TYG02's, and just by looking at them you know they're not TY's ;)
