Some of the cheapest prices on DVD media I've found. Post your finds here.

QtcCDR
As low as $0.55 each Princo 1X DVD-R white top DVD Recordable General Media 4.7GB Ver 2.0 I've burned around 200 of these. Made less than 5 coasters but it wasn't the media's fault.

As low as $0.95House Brand 2X DVD-R white top DVD Recordable General Media 4.7GB Ver 2.0 - These are the same as the 1x DVD-R above. Will burn a full DVD in 30 mins. $1.25 for each.

Ritek Silver DVD-R as low as $0.78each per 100pk.. these will burn at 2x on the pioneer/cendyne A104 and Sony DRU500A with the latest firmware.. also at QTC.

Ritek Silver 4X DVD-R for $1.99each! These media rock! took only 15 mins for a full dvd!!! @ QTC.

Sorry but this doesn't seem that hot to me. Not only do they charge shipping... but there is a $6.50 handling charge on a 100 pack too. Still cheaper than most for the 100 pack, but the shipping and handling kill any deal on the 50 or 25 pack. Cheaper at ESBuy.com.

seriously, i dont see media for 55 cents in any qty.

For the record, princo is not the BOTTOM of the barrel when it comes to quality.
It certainly aint the best, riteks are much better, but the no name genrics u find at alot of places are worse.
Princos work well on my v7 ps2, although my friends v3 has some issues with certain discs. Ive never had a problem in any standalone dvd player either. If u dont mind 1x speed i think princo is ok. I think their awful rep in the cd-r market carried over to the dvd.

good place for princos it seems

i have used their princos before. went through a whole 50 pack and not one coaster. just picked up a 100 pack of 4x riteks and have had one coaster (my fault i think--i was ripping, transcoding, burning, and listening to MP3s at the same time, hehehe). the place is down the street from my work, so they have excellent deals. here are some other placed with good deals on DVD-Rs. i have not tried them, but i have them bookmarked nonetheless:

I just bought two 100 packs from rima.com this past month.
4X Riteks...I burn on my sony dru500ax but have to use 1.0d firmware I got from sonydru500a.com
I bought it for $170 and the other pack for $175 ...now they're $180 I believe. Better than that $1.99 price quoted above.

Generally when you see an outrageous price like 55¢ on any DVD media, it is part of a "combo" deal. To get the discs at the advertised price, you have to purchase in vast quantities (200 to 500) and buy a matching number of DVD cases at a not-quite-so-attractive price. Plus of course, there is a grossly inflated shipping and fondling charge.

Personally, I bought qty 100 Lead Data DVD-Rs from All Media Outlet. These discs work beautifully in my Toshiba SD-R5002 and every standalone player I have tested them in. For $79 delivered to my door, I'm pleased.

YMMV!

What we need is an "Official DVD Media" thread... I'd do it, but really don't have time at the moment (grad school, plus working all day).

What would be great to compile into 1 thread is 2 lists: Which brands of media burn well on which burners,
and the current good bargains.

Oh heck... if I catch up on my grad work tonight, I'll do it...

Is the price on Riteks going up? Last month I bought a 100 pack of 2x silver/purple for $92. Weird to see media prices go up. I love these disks. No freezing on last chapters of backup DVDs like the Princos.

I like the idea of a DVD media thread.

Ritek Silver DVD-R... You mean $1.10 each if you buy 100pk?

EDIT: haha, I thought this looked familiar. It's actually from my official DVD media thread from FW. DVD prices have risen a lot since then.
