how can i view my Google Photos on the TV for under $100?
the original chromecast allows me to do it but there's a weird vignette on top n bottom and the brightness lowered automatically. i presume this is the setting to save power on the TV but no option to view as normal.

can the newer 4k chromecast play photos at normal brightness level and no vignette? if not, which device can? also, no monthly fees! i believe the Fire stick can do but i have to be Prime member.

That sounds like a TV issue, the Chromecast is the perfect cheap device for this task.

i tried multiple TVs, the chromecast 1 will only play google photos when im not streaming videos. so it seems when it's sleeping, it plays google photos in dimmer mode.
which chromecast model are you using?

So when you go into Google Photos and cast from there, it's dim on the TV? Does your TV have some kind of auto brightness?

Yeah i view my photos on my TV all the time, never dimmed for me either. Only time my chromecast seems to run a filter/dim the screen on my pics is when its flipping through them randomly as background images while im not casting anything but TV is on.
