I'm looking to buy a new cordless phone, because the one I have now has the battery that needs to be fully drained before charging. Now, it only holds a 30 minute charge. I KNOW I can replace the battery, but at the cost of the battery I might as well replace the phone (It's just a cheap one).

Now, what should I look for on the box to tell me that I'm buying a phone that won't do this? Is it a battery with "No Memory" that I'm looking for? I'm just looking for a cheap one ($40 Canadian) that doesn't need to be drained before being charged..

I have yet to see a cordless phone that comes with anything other than a NICD battery. NICD batteries are the most susceptible to the "memory effect." You don't need to fully drian it every time, just every now and then. I would say just replace the battery. If you really don't want to do that then I recommend Vtech phones. We have had some for years and none of the batteries have died (and we never discharge them all the way).

If you really want a new phone and there's a Wal-Mart near you, check out their electronics clearance. They had several cordless phones---even some of the 2.4GHz really cheap.

You're right it's probably better to get a brand new cordless phone instead of replacing the battery since the phones are really dropping in price. Your best bet is start with our own Hot Deals forum and search for cordless I counted 12 different cordless phone offers, one of them is bound to meet your needs at the price you want.
