'Cheap' CDRom that can read 'sub channel data'?

I have a really cheapie cdr 2X2X4X that has always done the job for me, but neither it nor my cheapie cdrom drives seem to be able to read the subchannel data so that I can make an image of SafeDisc disks correctly. Any suggestions?
