Just a warning about the Value Disc discs
I got these the last time they had a $40-minus-35 deal on these a couple of months ago, and these discs can either be great, or shoddy as hell. They come in shrinkwrapped cakes of 50, 4 per box. No spindles. 2 and 3/4 of the spindles were fine, but 1/4 of one spindle and practically all of the other were trash. My laptop couldn't even recognize them. So if you get this, consider it at most 150 CD-R's for $5, and the rest are overhead.

And be careful when around sharp objects ; ) These don't have a matte laminate coating on the top for protection... scratches on the top directly hit the film layer.

On the plus side
These things overburn like hotcakes! I managed/tested to get up to ~89 min on most of the media, but sometimes your writer doesn't like this...

How are the TDK's? I normally buy Fuji but need a new 50 pak.

everyones burning cd's here now. Wife, sons, me 😉

can anyone find the officemax $10 MIR for the 200 pack?

I believe that it is in the OM rebate directory booklet available in the stores.

Hey, TDK's are great. Most of them are made by Ritek, even the certified plus ones, but in my book, they are second only to Fuji. I've always used TDK (just started using Fuji after Best Buy had them a couple weeks ago for cheap after rebate), and I've never had any problems at all. I like how the TDK's have a plain white coating on top for writing, as opposed to the brand label stamped all over the face. $9 with no rebates for a 50 pack is a pretty good deal, although a couple weeks ago, CompUSA had them for $3 after rebate.

I too have a 200 pack of Value Discs (I stupidly bought them off eBay before I found Large Wallet or AT), and my laptop has trouble recognizing the disks as well. I just did a complete format of my drive last night, and I backed stuff up using those cheapo CDR's. I was very scared when my laptop drive couldn't recognize them, but my external TDK drive had no problem. These things are good for only one thing - throwaway one time use. They have no coating, and the top layer comes off very easily. They also scratch very easily. Still, for $5, you can't go wrong even if only 80% of the discs work. I've opened 3 spindles, and they all seem to be fine.

Hope this helps.

No, it's filed under 2 categories. #1: Khypermedia Assorted Products up to $20 and #2: Value Disc 50-Pack or 200-Pack CD-R up to $10. KHypermedia is nice, but Value Disc is like the black sheep of the family that noone talks about. KHypermedia CD-R's are comperable to Imation [light green dye], but the Value Disc are of lesser quality and silver dye. Still worth it for .02c CD-R's.

Thanks 😀

I wandered into CompUSA yesterday. They have "Made in Japan" (most likely TY) 30-pk Fuji 48X CD-R for $10.99 out the door. No rebate for those who hate rebates.
