Cheap Casing

I've seen casing below USD50 with features such as glass/transparent sidepanels, front door and lcd with fan controller which are more commonly found in expensive casing. My questions are:

1. Are they good enough to have so much features i.e. can last at last long especially the lcd?

2. For cheap casing, is it better to just stick to simple design i.e. no bells and whistles or those that come with only certain feature like transparent sidepanel and no other feature?

Thank you.

Welcome to the AT forums.

Generally you're talking about appearance features that can be added on rather than functionality that needs to be designed in. Take a look at the Rosewill thread in this section for inexpensive cases that have the functionality done right. Now if the cases you're seeing have all the functionality of those particular Rosewill models PLUS all the bling you mentioned, maybe then you have a real deal... Cheap window kits are available, LCD fan controllers/temp monitors can be had for under $15., etc.

Welcome to the forums. My personal recommendation would be for more quality and less bling at the lower end of pricing. Provantage.com sells the Antec SLK3000B (no power supply) for around $33 plus shipping and that's an awesome price for a top quality case. It's all black with a door over the drive bays, made of thick steel and has 120mm fans, but no lights, no LCDs, no window.
