Hello all, I am in need of a cheap (no more than $40-50 total) case for use as a media PC, so it must be quiet, and look good with a stereo system. Power supply is not important. What do you think?

HTPC cases are expensive.

I was even considering an older black desktop case. But I can't seem to find these either.

I found this case tonight, and it is a fantastic deal. I really like it, but I am worried about locating a slim DVD drive, and low profile sound card on the cheap. Any suggestions on this?

Look at the Athenatech A100 series since you can use a micro ATX case. Newegg and Amazon et al. have them.

I didn't know there were any Cav. cases still in the channel - thanks Loop. That can hold ATX as well as mATX mobos.

I kind of liked the cheap antec cases for HTPC. I have the antec aria (see antec NSK1300) which really isn't that bad at $95 for something that comes with a HTPC capable PSU. Slim drives, etc aren't something I'd put in a budget box.

Cheap, quiet and looking good do not go hand in hand. You either want a cheap case, or you want a case that is quiet and looks good. And why would you say the power supply is not important? Do you want a PSU that is loud? Do you want a cheap one that will fry the rest of your components? You sound like you need to do a bit more research into building a PC.

Agreed. I got lucky to get this case for $60 used, and every brand-new case I saw under $100 looked like ass.

And while it's looks nice, it severely limited my PSU choices due to the fact that it would only fit a mATX power supply.

Consider bumping your budget by $75 and pick up a TT, they look nice, built for cooling, etc
