I just need a replacement for my current case which is falling apart. Basically I have an old gigabyte mobo with a duron chip on it and an optical drive and one HD. I'm just looking for a black case less than $40 from newegg. My question is - what should I consider.. the reviews? or how many fans? which fans should it have? Or should I buy a case and buy the fans separately because the fans on these cheap cases may be of poor quality? Any other suggestions? Specific cases would be helpful. Here is what I've found so far:

Would you recommend any of these cases? Thanks in advance!

Neither of those are very good. The second one has a lot of 80mm fans which amount to decent cooling but a lot of noise. The third one's a bit better with 2 92mm fans, but it's still not the best.

Though above your budget by $10, this looks like a good deal. The 2 120mm fans and one 80mm fan allow you good yet quiet cooling. It's also steel, so it won't vibrate that much.

edit: this could be a good compromise with 1 120mm and 2 80m fans and a cost of $31.50.

well, there's not a whole lot you can choose from since your budget is 40 bucks, but i would go for the 3rd link you posted as it can handle 92mm fans. Duron systems dont get hot anyways so 2 decent 92mm fans will be fine. Basically, when looking for a case, the best thing to look for is cooling potential. the fans included are cheap and usually a tad bit loud with generic cases, but what you're interested in is how many fans the case can fit and what size. Fans are so cheap nowadays it doesnt cost that much more to replace the stock ones.

Thanks. I like the second one (Spire Bluefin) that suszterpatt posted. If anyone else has suggestions, please let me know.

Try looking for an SLK3000B...u can find one for under 60 bux. It comes with a 120mm fan and is an excellent case for the relatively low price
