Cheap Caribbean Destinations

My friends and I are thinking of going on a vacation for Spring Break (17-25), to somewhere in the Caribbean..would like to make the trip as long as possible, minimum of 4 nights though. Budget around $800-1000, and if possible it would be great to stay at an all-inclusive place. Is it possible to even fly to some island from Atlanta, where should we go, or are we stuck with a cruise in that range?

I'd hit up Aruba. I've been there and it was fvcking awesome.

I also want to hit up the virgin islands and Bermuda as well. I don't have much urge to go to the Bahamas or Jamaica cause of how dirty I hear the places are.

they all seem to want to know which island you want to go to..I was looking for AT's recommendation on a place to go

Cuba is very cheap, us Canadians love going to cube or the dominican republic... im going to cuba for 1 week in april and its 1600$ for 2 ppl including airfare + hotel + food + booooooooz.

Hope this helps!

My aunt just got back from the Dominican Reupblic, specifically Punta Cana i believe. She was gone for 5 days, to a very nice AI. For the whole package with airfare from MI, it was 1000$ per person. She has been to a lot of AI's, and said the one she was at there had the best food out of all of them. It was clean and everyone was friendly.

I went on a Norwegian cruise that cost approx. $600ish and it was a full week. Went to Hunduras, Belize, Cozumel, Cancun. All your food is paid for, only kicker is, alcohol. If you're a big time boozer, you either better bring a fat wallet, or sneak some on. (And by some, I mean enough to think to yourself "there's no way we're gonna drink all of this", b/c, in the end, for our group at least, we were boozing pretty much once we got up til' we went to bed at 4 am.)

This cruise definitely wasnt the highest of class, but is all we needed being college students.

I hoped you tipped housekeeping well.

Oh yeah, I think our room of 3 all tipped 40-50 dollars each. Our housekeeping probably did not even care b/c we left water bottles (aka water bottles filled with vodka, clear rum etc) everywhere.

Also, the OP shouldnt be saying "stuck" on a cruise. This was by far, the best trip my friends and I had throughout our time together. . .over New Orleans, Skiing in Colorado, beach house in Texas.

i second the bahamas. I did both that and south beach when I was in college and the bahamas was actually cheaper (and more fun - but thats probably because my exgirlfriend came to south beach with us....). check out this site, Link its hilarious and also a good place to start.

Well, I can un-recommend Dominica. I went there once and IMO there just isn't enough there to justify a trip. I only went to visit my friend who went to the med school there (Ross University School of Medicine). The island is pretty as can be but attractions are limited. Unless you want to see a boiling lake.

With that type of budget, you could actually do rather well in somewhere like San Andreas Island, Cartagena, Santa Marta (All those places are in Colombia), or you could consider Bahamas or the Dominican Republic. A lot of the nicer islands might be a bit too pricy for that budget, but I'm sure you could still make it work.

Call travel agents in your area. Try to find a trip to Cancun....all inclusive with airfare/hotel/food&drinks.

If you stay in a nice enough resort, there are usually activities and bars there so you don't even have to leave the resort. That's the best way to save money. Last time I went to Cancun, I spent $80 the week I was there. $20 of it was cab fares.
