Cheap Bicyles

I'm looking for a cheap bicycle to use to ride around whenever I feel like, you know, just for fun around the neighbour hood and stuff. Looking for something <$130 US, $200 CND here. BTW I'm in Vancouver Canada so if it's possible, please tell me where to get it around here.

Goto your local bike shop and see what they've got used. You'll prolly find a decent (not toy store) brand at a good price.

Whatever you do, don't get something that ever came from Target, Sears, Wal-Mart, any place like that. They're complete POSs, not really even considered real bikes by anyone who's even semi-serious about cycling. Bikes like that aren't fun. They're heavy and hard to pedal.

I second the suggestion that you look on the used market. Bicycly resale is pretty low after a couple years, even if the bike was hardly ridden. You can probably get something for your (US) price range that's not very used, and only a couple years old, like a Trek 4xxx, or a Specialized Hard Rock, etc., that was selling around $400 (US) new. It might even have a couple worthwhile accessories or upgrades thrown in!

Good luck, have fun riding, and remember, lights at night!

hmm..... well, I was going to suggest a bike from wal-mart. You can get ones with shocks for like 160 bucks.

I was going to get one for my girlfriend so she had something to ride this summer, what exactly is wrong with them?

What would you suggest for around 175$ then?

Agreed, tho it's a b!tch just to change my fork just for road riding. Oh well, I'll live😛

Check garage sales... ads in paper for used bikes.. I'll agree with the others, you can get a decent used bike in that price range. But, since you apparently haven't ridden a good bike, you won't notice how bad the wal-mart bikes are.

Buy a quality bike from a bike store. Those cheap bikes don't seem to handle as well and the frames feel soft to me, as I can't see to turn as well with them.
