wanting to get a little more from my 2.8c and put off the upgrade till next year, and be prime stable with o/c. should i go with the msi 865pe neo2 platinum or one of the abit or asus boards? the msi is only ~$80 where the the others are ~$100+. doesn't sound like a lot, but i am cheap and want to get my 2.8c to 3.2-3.4 and keep it under 60C on air under full load with a nice coolermaster copper hs and a 92mm fan(which i can already attain but not prime stable, and also boost the ram voltage too). current temps are ~50C fulll load. idel is 38C cpu / 32C case.
or recommend me another decent 478 board that o/c well that is cheap and has cpu and memory voltage adj. needs to be i865pe based and can be mATX, size doesn't really matter. all i need is 2 ram slots because i will not be going over 1GB on this setup. i know this is old hardware thus the reason i don't want to sink in a bunch of coin, but i don't want to drop $$$ for a skt 939 yet since then i would need a new video card too and the 9800 pros are so cheap now, wouldn't get much resale. sata raid is nice but i don't need it as i run scsi and pata.....give me your feedback please 🙂 main uses are gaming, ps, illustrator, premiere and of course video/audio encoding, office and web/email. just have the bug since i have had this machine for 15mos and have the itchy trigger finger and want to do something with it...
will also probably get a arctic cooling ati cooler and flash my 9800pro(r360 core) to xt speeds too.
