Most of it will work fine, look though, if it says compatible with certain types don't by it. There is a lot of ram that is being sold as amd only, so watch out.

Only works in BX means (to me) that the RAM introduces so much noise into the 3.3V circuit that an Athlon crashes because an Athlon northbridge reads data on the rise and fall of each cycle so this noise can essentially be picked up twice instead of once as in the case of a BX chipset.

In other words; if that's what you want, get it.

so that means that my board can use Athlon meant ram, right? i mean there will be less noise, so it wont affect my board, unless the noise is required

ccraft.net has 256mb PC133 generic (for BX boards, NOT athlon) for $87. What a deal :)

problem is, people have been lied to by them. thats the only reason why i cant buy this damn ram, i dont want to get burned by these bastards. this was the only vendor that sells ram that looks like it would work

Of course you can use "Athlon approved" RAM on a BX. Less noise is better. Cheap crap has more noise, often due to thin PCB.

My work sells generic RAM that is OK for Athlons. A lot of these places that sell "BX Only" RAM gives generic RAM a bad rap. It's BX only because it's crap generic RAM. There are several levels of quality in generic RAM.

It's "BX only" because it has failed a tighter level of quality control. Plain and simple.
