I like the quality/price of the CRT and room is of no concern to me. So I want the highest refresh/resolution/dpi for under $200.

A lightly used Dell P991 (rebadged 19 inch flat Sony Trinitron tube) is a nice monitor.

If you can find one locally, they are probably $50 - $60 and still probably about $100 shipped (shipping something this heavy is risky, especially if they don't have the original box and molded foam padding).

Is there a Craigslist.org city near you? (http://www.craigslist.org/) Allentown or Pittsburgh?

Yeah, nothing on there. Damn Im really tempted to just get the Insignia brand new for $89AR shipped. Then on the other hand that Nokia is tempting but I dont like the warrenty and thats its 5 years old.

No frys or anything like that. Just a small one that charges $5 for a used 10 year old roller mouse. Researched hte Insignia it should do 1280x1024 at 85hz, but is probably useless at 1600x1200. Which is ok for now because Ive been using 1024x768. But in the future I may want higher.

Actually, I meant mom and pop shops that build or repair computers.

Maybe they have some lying around on their shelves that they just want to get rid of.

Yeah, the one that sells the crap mice for $5 is damn the only one unfortunately. There is a best buy close by though so I could probably pick up the Insignia there so it wouldnt have to be shipped, but I have to decide because 8-6 is hte last day for hte rebate on the Insignia. But its hard to turn down a 21" for $100 shipped.

Get a KDS USA xf-9bi. Good cheap 19"er. I got mine at office depot on sale for $99.99...

I do hate one thing with passion: When the monitor sleeps or shuts off with a high resolutionas its default, the geometry gets larger and overlaps past the viewing area. So basically, when I boot up I can't see but half my taskbar. Once it warms up a little, though, the geometry shrinks back down.

Happy hunting :)

Don't go cheap on a monitor...it's your primary interface with your computer.

Don't get Insignia...don't get Nokia, don't get KDS.

Get something quality like Sony, Samsung, NEC, Cornerstone or even a higher end Viewsonic.
