Chat software that allows automatic proxies???

Maybe the question is a little silly, but I would like to get some chat (messaging) software that allows the use of automatic proxies. Our firewall is set up with a proxy script in an http address (no port required)

I already tried MSn messenger 5.0 and it fails miserably. It tries to detect the settings for internet explorer, but keeps failing. i tried to configure it but no luck, because when I say I use "http proxy" it asks for a port.... (???)

Trillian is the same history..... 🙁

In IE, Opera and Phoenix I just set up the URL of the automatic proxy script...... no need to set up a port. Is there any messaging software that can allow me to do it??? Or can I still configure trillian to work with my current firewall???

Thanks
