I think BonzaiDuck did something similar to this... his ducting has given him a very quiet and cool computer, so it must work.

Wouldn't the air duct block the exhaust fan? Having the plastic tube in the way should limit the air output of the rear fan, shouldn't it? However, you'll be blowing cool air (assuming the ambient temp. is cool enough) directly into de cpu, that's nice.

Cool video. I always thought that when you add side air ducts, it would increase the noise generated...

Not sure about blocking the exhaust fan, I figure that as long as there is some decent room around the duct then the rear fan *should* be ok. It also probably depends on your case and mobo setup. My mobo has the CPU slot in the upper left area, so that would block the exhaust more than a board with a slot in the upper-middle area.

I was jus thinking: Wouldn't it make more sense to have the rear fan as an intake instead of exhaust?

This way, the fan would suck cool air from the outside directly onto the cpu heatsink and ram. If your cpu fan blows down to the hs, it would blow cool air, instead of the air taken from the lower intake fan (wich gets hot as it passes through the hdds and video card). What do you think?

Problem with having the rear as an intake is the PSU fan is venting out, typically just a few inches from that. In that case, you'll be bringing in warmer air into the case. You'll still want a fan set to vent, so you'll either need to install a blowhole (blow it out your hole?) or reverse the front fan.

IF you want to vent the hot air faster, install a blow hole in the case and possibly another intake on the side panel...

Yes, it's true. But the hot air coming out from the PSU would go up, and the rear fan wouldn't suck it... or would it?

If your fan is worth anything it will manage to grab at least some of that warm air. It also depends on how much room there is behind your case. If it's in a wide open space, there's more room for the hot air to move. If it's under a desk, or close to a wall, then there's less room for the air to move. Put your hand behind your case and see what kind of temperature difference there is. Chances are, you'll be able to feel warmer air behind the system.

If your thinking doing a duct mod, you may want to look at this duct kit link

They are out of stock but, you can get the idea.
