Chassis intrusion question

I finagled together a chassis intrusion device that works with the header on my motherboard. It works as one would expect, however, I only used 2/3 of the pins of the header, omitting the +5VMB pin. Is this a problem (electrically or otherwise)?
In general, are there any potential problems in (mis)configuring 5V/+5VSB pins/headers? Like damaging the motherboard, power supply, or other components if a jumper setting is improperly chosen, or some complication with support by the power supply?
