ok, basically i get one normal boot where i can do what i need in the bios etc... but the next time i boot i get a chassis intruded! fatal error ... system halted. if i reset the cmos using jumpers on the board and turn it back on ill get to boot one time before the message comes back up. i read the manual and found there is a jumper on the board and i placed a jumper where it says should be the default setting. the manual says "remove the jumper caps only if you intent on using the chassis intrusion detection feature." ... well i have place the jumper where it says it should and i still get this error. wtf? can i disable this in bios? if so i cannot find it for the life of me.

reset the jumper. You have to turn it on and off twice before it registered + clear your cmos

My Asus P5K-VM does this on occasion, usually after it has been left unplugged for a while the first POST will give that error, then a reset clears it. Very irritating. A quick web search showed this as a somewhat common problem with various Asus branded boards.

I like how Asus replaced one line of Engrish with another. I remember getting that message insistently around six years ago on an A7M266 board, except it used to read "the system intruded, chassis opened or tempered before." :D

I am very sorry to have to necro this thread, but can anyone please explain in a little bit more detail the:

" reset the jumper. You have to turn it on and off twice before it registered + clear your cmos"

I have Asus P5K deluxe Wifi-ap which worked for app. 4-5 years perfectly until I decided to try out the chassis intrusion feature, removed the jumper caps and connected the case wires. After that all the hell broke loose and I could not get rid of the famous error.

Returning the jumper caps didnt work and resetting the cmos only allows one single system boot-up. I also took the board to a technician which tried to identify and disable (e.g. physically remove) the chassis intrusion detection contact but to no avail. I also tried both upgrading and downgrading the bios. Any ideas?
