I have a real nagging habit of occassionally grabbing cool looking software from the interwebs and trying to improve my system. I usually end up dissatisfied with the performance or configuration and start itching to clean install and chase perfection anew (can you tell I played sim city a lot as a child?).
Besides storing win7-created system images every so often, I've no way to dive into a chance software config without an escape route to revert things. I've dabbled in a second win7 install on vm: but software for system-specific hardware doesn't have the proper access for testing.
I've looked into some other options without going much further: VHD installs, phys->virtual machine conversion, go-back'esk software, ms steadystate, AIK to quickly clean-install a preconfiged base image.
Anyone who can appease the digital gorilla on my back?
