Anyone have this? I'm not going to reply with any personal info (even though it came from the Chase short message code) and its too early to call. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever had Chase text them about something like this?

I've received these types of texts before

you might be receiving some follow up call soon related to the text

they're fraud attempts

call Chase and/or check your Chase accounts if you want to be sure

This.

I get phone calls from the card issuer.
Mainly when charges show that do not match profile.

4 $1 charges. Gas charge checks while driving all day. Raises flags.

The most interesting was they were concerned about charges in Fla, Tx, Ca and Hi all in same day.
All were legit, checking out of hotel, rental cars and checking into hotel.
Jet lag did not show on bill.

The only time I had a fraudulent charge ($2500) on mine, the card company did NOT call. I recently charged $5,000 on it as part of the purchase price of a car (for the rewards and $5000 was all the dealer would let me put on there.) That was so unusual that the last time I had done something similar was... never! The card company didn't call on that either. :(

Many years ago (when most here were little shavers) and CC used paper pamphlets for validation; someone got ahold of our info in the DC metro area.

They ordered up $1.5K worth of goods online from a surf/scuba store in Boca Raton.
We caught the charge and filed a dispute.
The next month we were making a trip south to Miami and decided to make a side stop in Boca.
The store was legit and they provided us with all the info they could.

Upon returning to the DC area; we found the ghetto apartment that UPS delivered to and turned all info over to the local PD and the CC company.

Apparently a guy's GF worked at the store and would pocket CC receipts for a day, take them home; get all the info and then return the receipts to the store the following day.
They had well over $50K worth of merchandise at the time of the bust; they would then resell based on wanted to buy ads in the paper of local swap shops, etc.

Banks don't email/text/facebook for those things, they suspend the card until you talk with them.

I have had chase text, and call me about fraudulent charges. Even if they call me and I speak to a person, I politely thank them for calling me, but I will hang up and call the number on the back of the card and asked to be transferred to the fraud dept. Keeps everybody honest. I find waiting the extra 10, 15 min to speak to somebody negligible when it comes to my credit,/debit cards.

I got a phone call from my bank. It was was just me, though. I was trying to buy a laptop from Newegg, and Newegg kept rejecting my card info. I kept thinking I had entered something wrong, so I tried a few times. My bank called me almost immediately about the multiple charge attempts.

I explained to the bank what was going on and the bank said there was nothing wrong with the card.

So I contacted Newegg to tell them they had a problem. Newegg was only interested in telling me that my card was bad.

So I went back online and ordered the laptop from someone else with the same card using the same info. Went right through with no problem.

I made an international credit card payment through some strange finnish CC processing site, $350 or so. Chase texted me with a warning, also asking me if it was a legitimate charge. Asked me to text back "1 or 2", something along those lines

Obviously anything asking for any real information is not legit

Never been called, when it happened to me my card just got locked out. And this is why I use my discover card for everything, better to be locked out of that than my bank account getting drained and waiting on the bank to put funds back.

Not necessarily true. I can't speak to Chase but USAA will text you (from their registered mobile number) about charges they aren't sure of. You can can either choose to respond via text or call.

If you get a notice from your CC lender and you can't immediately rule it out as fake and you want to check it out then call the number on the back of your card. Ignore any telephone numbers, email addresses, or websites included in the notice. Also, if the bank calls you, don't give out any personal info. Tell them you'll have to call them back, again using the number on your card.

since you know it's an official number you have some assurance it's for real, as far as email I've gotten fake stuff from Paypal, Chase ,BOA, ect. I would rather call them via an official 800# myself..

Not true. American Express email me when they suspect fraud. But in the email they ask me to call the number of the back of my card to verify the charges. And when I call the number on the back of the card, the call is automatically rerouted to their fraud dept instead of their regular customer service agents. Couple of times it was legit online orders from new retailer that triggered the fraud warning. Once it was actual fraud and someone was using my card number in a different state.

Yes, I have. Safest thing to do is call the number on the back of your card, tell them you got a fraud alert from Chase, and they'll pass you on to their fraud department.

One of the reasons why I  Chase.
