Im not sure if this is allowed, or if these are all over the internet, but i just got a code for $125 when you open a checking account with chase.

If their not all over the internet, first PM gets it. Otherwise, lock away.

I got one too. But best read de fine print, or you will owe Chase more than the $125.00. they promise. With an early termination fee of $25.00 to really rack you.

And even if you win on the deal, Chase will probably issue you a 1099 and complicate your taxes. Better have at least $1500.00 you can park for seven months or so, go a dime under $1500 at any point, and monthly fees eat it all up.

My deal expires 12/12/2011, I am in no hurry, but it sure looks tempting. Where else can you get 8.33% interest on just money these days?

** Only one offer per person per year.

some of the recent CC signup offers have been awesome. I.e. spend $500 within 3 months, get $300. Since many charge that amount anyway, particularly in the run up to Christmas, the reward is simply free money.

There's also nothing inherently bad about having an extra CC or even a few; whereas I personally wouldn't park 4 figures into (extra) new checking accounts just to score $125.

ING Direct always has a Black Friday promo for new checking customers. However, their rates have gone down a lot and they were acquired by Capital One. If COF brings on new banking fees, a lot of ING customers will certainly bail.
