I have a BofA Checking/Savings account that I store most of my money in. For rewards though, I use a Chase Freedom card. It can be a pain to receive the checks in the mail from Chase when I get a bonus, and they mentioned that they can direct deposit to my account if I had checking with them.

There is a $100 bonus for opening a checking account.

Is there any good reason not to open it? Does my credit take a hit or anything like that for having 2 checking accounts?

you planning to buy a house or car on financing? If not, who cares. You lose out on $100 just to save your credit score from falling minimal points?

I did a serach and found this:

"There is no monthly service fee on the Chase Checking if you have a direct deposit or make 5 debit purchases each statement period. You must keep the account open for six months or the bonus is will be debited. "

Make sure you don't get stuck with a checking account fee each month or you may end up paying more than $100 in sixth months.

I am not planning on any loans or anything like that any time soon. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't a good reason to not have multiple checking accounts :)

Thanks

Edit: Ah, interesting. I currently get direct deposits on my BofA checking account... I wonder if I would be charged for it if I stopped that.

Chances are your employer has an option to direct deposit split into 2+ accounts, check up on that.

It won't affect your credit.
