Seems semi-Hot to me.

I've been using TiVo for about 3 years now, but the feature this new DVR offered by Charter for only $9.99 per month and NO hardware purchase seems down right hot to me.

Pause and rewind live TV.

  • Watch one show and record another at the same time.
  • Set it once and automatically record every episode for the entire season.
  • Record up to 60 hours of TV without a VCR.
  • Need to see or hear it again? Use the instant replay button to jump back approximately 8 seconds, or the rewind feature during any live show.
  • No equipment to buy and maintain.
  • Just $9.99 a month

Can Charter DVR record two shows at once?
Yes, and more! Record one show while recording another; record two shows at once; and even record two shows and watch another recorded show at the same time... that's TV on your terms!

Been paying $13.00 a month for TiVo, and will welcome the $9.99 cost and NO hardware purchase.

Finally Charter is catching up with times, but its a bit too little too late for Charter with me. I signed up with DirecTV w/Tivo. I pay less for my TV service and only pay $5/m for Tivo. Essentially the DirecTivo hardware was free when I refered myself though ExpertSatellite. Now if they can only do something about their slow user interface of their Digital cable package.

I've always been interested in the entire DirectTV setup. May I ask you how much per month you pay? Currently, I have 3MB service broadband from Charter in addition to basic and expanded basic Digital Cable TV, and the cost is around $85 - 90 bucks per month.

I have the same deal with Charter also. Does the cable box that yall got output DTS? The DVR does sound interesting.

Becareful about get the DVR system, it's a Scientific America 8000 series. I had this system with Charter and the Hard Drive bombed about 4 months into the service. Down went all my Soprano recordings... I had the HD box, and that was cool.

The DVR is NOT the same as Tivo. It does pretty much the same thing but the interface is clunkier and not as refined. I had both for awhile and returned the DVR. Tivo is just a better experience IMHO.

Is DirectTivo any good? How many channels can you record from at once? Currently I have comcast's DVR box and it lets me record 2 shows at once while watching a prerecorded show. It has 2 tuners in it.

Yeah, it's possible. Here's why I am going to give the Charter DVR a shot (I have TiVo).

1) To save some money
2) Because Charter has that "digital cable" box, which I don't use, because it sux.
3) With the Charter DVR, there will be no need for a Digital cable box, everything will be combined and run through the DVR.
