OK, so charter has told me incorrect information at least 3 times concerning cable modem service. Is it still my fault if the operator either tells me something wrong or fails to notify me of something? They seem to be taking the position that everything is my responsibility, even if they don't tell me what to do or lie to me.
Example: when I moved, a technician told me to keep my old cable modem, it was mine now, and that I had to use the new one. I questioned this, and his answer was that it didn't show on my account that I owed a cable modem or even had one. Today I found out all this is false, and I need to return the modem.
Example 2: when I called to disconnect, they didn't tell me what to do with the 2nd modem. I am there when the guy disconnects me, but he does not even talk to me, much less ask for equipment. [note charter admits this was their fault once then denies it was their fault twice].
Example 3: the month after my service is cancelled, i receive a bill. it looks like a normal bill. i assume it will be auto-deducted like all my other bills for 4 years. it does not, because auto deduction is turned off when you cancel. i am only informed of this months later when i get a notification from a credit agency.
WTF?? Am I legally responsible for knowing things they don't tell me? Am I legally responsible to do things that their technicians tell me I don't need to do?
