Have you ever used Charter for broadband? I am moving to a Dallas apartment from a Houston suburb that has fiber optic straight to my router (had it since about 2000 - really fast and nice) so I am in the market for some broadband. Just wondering - any input is appreciated! Thanks!

I had charter about 2 years ago, speed was about the same as other providers I've had but connection was not as reliable as other providers (several times a month for several hours at a time the connection went down or had issues). There were lots of DNS issues too so I could connect directly to a game server or view pages by IP but not by name. May have just been a problem with their servers at the time or with that area because it was not in a city and barely the suburbs so they didn't really maintain lines or equipment very well and didn't seem to care when service went down.

I've been using charter for years. Had one modem bite the dust on me, but apparently it wasn't just mine - they said they had problems with that particular model. Other than that, it's been great. The connection itself is more reliable than the wireless network I use to split it up. Assuming we remember to pay the bill, of course :p

I've had Charter cable for years and it has gone down only a couple of times, primiarly big storms that bring a lot of trees down and major power outages.
