Right now we're paying about $105 for Digital Cable + HBO + Showtime, not exactly a good deal. I was looking at Charters bundle packages and it looks like I can get Cable + Internet + digital phone for $5 more then we're paying now. Well for 12 months any ways. The price after the promo is over = teh sUx0rs! Of course Charters site says nothing about this, but after the 12 months can you drop back to Cable TV only? it says you can't re-sign up for a new bundle deal if you currently have one (which sucks) But I was wondering if anyone has experience calling and claiming they're going to switch to DirectTV and getting the deal renewed?

I'm still pissed at them over the broadband speed - over a month ago I paid to bump up to the next bracket (10/1), and have yet see any increase in speed despite multiple calls. They just repeat that the speeds aren't guaranteed, but I am literally seeing the same exact up/down as with my previous plan.

On topic: No, I haven't had the pleasure of trying that out.

^^ A couple of years ago we had the 3/256 service and called in to upgrade to the new 5/512 service. Except after they had said it was done and to reset the modem, we did that and ran a few speed tests only to have the speeds still the exact same. So after calling them back, turns out they made a mistake on their end where the update was set but not submitted or whatever, so they did that and a couple of minutes later we were set. Maybe the same in your case, although it has been a month and multiple calls for you, so maybe not.

To the OP, well other than the possible 12 month contract to get the phone (I think there is a contract for the phone?), there is no reason you couldn't drop it at the end of the contract. And as far as getting it renewed in 12 months, there would likely be different deals/prices or you needs might change. You are paying $105/mo for just TV? What do you use for the internet now?

If your modem is old it might not be able to handle the higher speed. They should swap it for free if you're leasing it.

I know for where I live the internet speeds are pretty good, the neighbors I have who are with Charter get exactly what's rated. Right now we're on Citynet, which is free wireless via the city. It's about 512k down on a good day so even 3mb/s which I think is Charters bottom speed would be night and day better :D
