Monster should've won the best makeup oscar. Making Charlize Theron that ugly was quite an impressive task.

I have always admired her. She manages to look so damn different in every movie she does.. vewy cool woman.

She's from South Africa and had a thick accent. She took language classes and lost the accent. Those classes must have really effective because even when she got emotional accepting her award tonite, her south african accent didn't even make an appearance. Usually it does in most cases. Interesting i thought.

wonder what they did to her face in monster.

Keep her away from makeup for a month.

They actually applied makeup to make her look worse.

actually i heard they added things to her too, like nicole kidman had done with her nose extention in that incredibly boring movie a while back. but which parts, i dunno, its a mystery.

Just out of curiosity, why isn't there a stigma attached to being a white person from South Africa?

Apartheid, anyone?

There should only be a stigma if you were part of the government, or well-connected to it. Why should ordinary citizens be ostracized?

FWIW, I think her mom blew away her abusive, alcoholic dad. At least that's my recollection from a recent Parade magazine bit that explained how they dressed her down in Monster.

because its over silly...and she's f*cking cute. thats not even the worst africa had to offer anyways, theres been mass genocide there within the last decade for f*ck sake, and it didn't involve white people.

But what if an ordinary citizen receives a benefit from the actions taken by the government, at the expense of native africans? See the table on this page, for example.

Since I do not know the circumstances of Charlize Theron's life, I'm not saying she should be ostracized, it was just a question that popped into my head. The topic is probably better for the politics and news crazies. ;)
