Charlie & The Chocolate Factory - Theatre or IMAX?

So I just realized our local IMAX theatre has "Charlie & The Chocolate Factory" (random?) and it's been like 10 years since I've been to an IMAX film.

Are modern day films better on an IMAX? Better overall experience? Any comments would be great 🙂

Its not about ruining a classic (a movie that was fricken retarded to begin with, unless you're a kid) but the movie just looks fricken stupid in general.


Im going to say fricken one more time to emphasis my fricken point.
 
WTF people I don't care about your views on the film, I want to know if the IMAX experience enhances a modern day movie (not some education film BUILT for IMAX) or makes it worse.

lol, I like Burton and I like Depp. I have no isses enjoying BOTH versions of the film.

You do realize that they were both based off of the same book, right? This movie doesn't change the old film, so if you like that one better then just watch that one.

I prefer the new AMC18 they built close to my house last year to IMAX. The seating is stadium style and very comfy, the sound system blows me away, and the screens are just huge for being a theater. I voted theater.
 
I watched batman begins in IMAX and regular theatre. The IMAX was definitely more enjoyable and immersive. So, I say IMAX for sure.

LOL! It's a massive 3d-type theatre screen that envelops your viewing angle. Screen from one side of your sight to the other.

Ahh, i think i have went to one of those. It was at the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans.

The IMAX presentation of Chocolate Factory is indeed impressive, I have seen about 10 minutes of it. The colors are more vibrant than you can possibly imagine and the IMAX system as a whole will present it better than a traditional 35mm house.

Edit:

My only criticism is perhaps that that films presented in IMAX are too overwhelming. I find that some stuff can be missed as you try to process the vast amount of visual information so quickly. I watched Batman Begins on IMAX and 35mm, I discovered things I missed in the IMAX veiwing because there was simply too much to look at.
 
Hmm, looks like some people don't know the difference between an IMAX and an OMNI Theater. And no, I don't feel obligated to explain the difference.

Friend saw Batman at both regular theater and IMAX. Said the IMAX experience was worth it. One thing is certain, IMAX released movies are optimized for the IMAX theater visual and audio experience; you're getting every ounce of technology built into the film no matter which IMAX theater you go to. Even technology capable (regular) theaters don't all have sound and video optimized to the best of their capability.
 
I don't know if the film is good or bad. All I know is that Burton's film are always visually dazzling. That alone means that IMAX will be better.

 
Yeah, but have they done some sort of digital enhancement?
If not, it seems liek it will be like blowing up a picture on the PC, it just becomes morepixelated - the resolution is the same.
