?His death, conceivably, did more for peace, than his entire life.?
-Mike Wallace

The show was quite interesting tonight.

Wallace supposes that Arafat failed to take the steps for not out of fear, but because he loved his role, as the revolutionary, and that he never wanted to deal with creating the independent state.

Tom Friedman
"He has been symbolizing their aspirations for over 30 years. The fact that he never went beyond a symbol is the worst thing you can say about him and his relationship with his people. He fell in love with his own legitimacy. He never really wanted to sacrifice that. He preferred to die in his own bed in a French Hospital rather than dieing while having to give up anything to the Israelis. He managed to get himself into Ramallah, but left a lot of his people out.?

I know I posted it in P&N, but I figure they will give crappy commentary as usual
