Aren't you the guy that had to buy a manual transmission end of the line supercar because all the same old people making the old people "cars were better when they were shit!" arguments?

I think that was ponyo....who is still quite a bit missing around here after, uh...well Elon officially exposed himself as the person that everyone else told ponyo that he was.

stuff.

Why is it called soap opera effect?

Smoothing is often derogatorily called "the soap opera effect" because it evokes the cheap visual look of classic daytime soap operas, which were generally shot on videotape rather than film out of practical necessity due to their daily production schedules.

7 speed dual clutch. Would have bought a manual version if such a thing still existed.

I'm young by comparison. A youthful 43.

Remember it's ALL downhill from here! 😉

Charlie Brown Christmas was my favorite Christmas show growing up and I watched it every year. Now thanks to the internet, my new holiday tradition's watching A Charlie Brown Kwanzaa. If you've seen it, you know. If you somehow don't know what it is. It's on YT and very, extremely NSFW.

To hijack the thread, anyone seen the Guardians of the Galaxy holiday special? I thought it was kinda...shit. I think it was intentionally so to a degree (like them poking fun at the Star Wars holiday special), but then that just made it end up being just shit as well. The animation and message was still better than the Charlie Brown Xmas but that's not saying much.

Going to have to disagree. I enjoyed it.

Going to take a wild guess and assume it's cancel culture. I recall something in there that offended the woke people, so probably why they pulled it off. Kinda sad really, it's such an old classic. The woke people are ruining everything.

I should probably try to find a copy of all of these classics before they completely disappear. Some good nostalgia. Even things like Bugs Bunny, no way they would allow that to air now days because of the violence.

Can't tell if you are joking or just losing your mind.

A few years ago, I showed my kids Charlie brown christmas. I remembered it being good from when i was a kid, so I was excited to share this with them. I hadnt watched it in years...like 20 years. We all sat down around the TV and started to watch it. Halfway thru my kids chimed in. "Do we have to watch this, its not very good?" I had to agree. Apart from nostalgia, there is no real reason to watch it imo.

To appreciate it you have to really know the characters. I sat down with my best friend's granddaughter last year to watch it. I told her it was my favorite growing up. not even halfway in she asked if we could change it to something else. I understand Charlie and can somewhat relate to his struggles with shit. And when the janky ass Christmas tree he got wilted over from 1 ornament I felt his pain. If she had understood Charlie was basically a loser and Lucy was always usually being a bitch towards him she might have actually liked it. I had the same issue with her and It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. She doesn't know the characters so she was unable to understand why Linus was acting like a weirdo. I don't think she made it thru more than half of that either.

Needless to say, I don't think she'll ever watch another Charlie Brown show with me again.
