It is to be noted that neither Krauthammer nor McCain have apologized to the Iraqi people for their roles in their slaughter. (McCain has just managed to say his support was a mistake). Such is the hardness inside these men and so many like them. Such is their ego. Even now they can’t bring true humility inside them. Soon they will be food for insects, as all of us will be. And yet.....

So, nobody pointed out yet that Krauthammer supported Hillary in 2016?

Charles, they hardly know thee.

So did Henry Kissinger.

For me that just adds to my reservations about Hillary (and, equally, it says something about how off-the-scale Trump is) than it does about anything else.

We do live in 'interesting times', though, and it doesn't seem to me that professional pundits like Krauthammer have any deeper understanding of things than do us amateurs. Such people have been very consistently wrong about a whole series of events in recent times (from the fall of the USSR to Iraq, the financial crisis, Brexit, Trump...). Sometimes I wonder why they retain the high-status platforms that they do. Seems as if once you are an 'insider' in the commentariat class you are there for life. At a time when normal lower-paid people have increasingly no job security at all.

(Edit, to be fair, I'm thinking mainly of the British press, rather than Krauthammer in particular, but I doubt he predicted any of those events, or how they turned out, either)

How much pain do you think you will need to inflict to satisfy the the vengeance you seek to satisfy for the pain that was inflicted on you?

Can't you give the piety a rest for a bit? Sometimes a web forum with people being rude to each other is just a web forum with people being rude to each other.

Hey, I understand where the "wings" are coming from. If I woke up and found one of the Clintons had died, there would be no tears and a very secret hahaha.
CK, was hated by liberals, to the same tune the right hates the Clintons. I get it.

Far more intrigued by the subsequent video that one rolled over to - the one about Pruitt and the chicken franchise (is there already a thread on that?). Seems like Trump's administration is not only unethical, it's frequently unethical in a hilariously low-rent, unambitious way. Who _are_ these people? What layer of US society produces them and their low-horizons? Reagan was a giant of ideological principle and high ambition by comparison.

(Is the US a nation of used-car salesmen?)

There was a report a week or so ago that a UFO had been dogging a carrier for a month or so. I can't vouch for the veracity of it of course, but it could be that we humans are in the witness box against ourselves. I expect we'd fail miserably by what I see, but naturally, the odds of my idle speculations are impossible, just like Trump winning was a decade ago.

Good thing we aren't judged for our actions.

For you perhaps since this is to you just people being rude, but for me it's one of my favorite posters, a person with a great sense of humor, crapping on himself. I am impelled by my love for him to tell him that what he said was ugly. Perhaps when you aloof, stiff upper lip Limies learn to feel something human, you will be able to enter a thread about a dying American journalist without making it about the Brittish Press. You may at your leasure and with all due respect, go fuck yourself.

And not that piety has had a proper nap, I can politely tell you that I would do for you what I did for him because I like you too. With you, of course, it's not so much about humor but rather thoughtful content. Know then, that I took a look at your criticism, weighed it for value, and wadded it up and after proper loading blew it out my ass into my garden when it will compost nicely. Thank God for Wellingtons, eh!

Good to see you aren't so against rudeness on forums after all! That's the spirit!

This isn't really about a person, though, it's about a media presence and an agenda. The reality is that's all the guy is to those who don't know him personally. That's life - for most of us when we go 99.999 (maybe a few more 9s) % of the world will pay no attention at all. For those with a bit of power people will have an opinion depending entirely on how that power affected them. Complaining about that seems, well, empty piety, to me.

It ended on a slightly-pretentiously-worded flourish, but have to admit I don't disagree at all with his main point. Which surprised me.

It does not surprise me that a typical person raised in the modern Western civilization would consider us becoming food for insects as pretentious. The opposite would surprise me

Sigh - you aren't reading very carefully. It's not the 'becoming food for insects' that I said was (slightly) pretentious - it was your mentioning that fact, unecessarily, in the context you did (which isn't even a fact, really, it's bacteria that consumes our cadavers, not insects, and it's a good job they do, or we'd be knee-deep in corpses by now). It was a cliched flourish that didn't really add anything to the point, and hence was not particularly good writing. If you insist on making an issue of it, I'd say it was an unsucessful attempt to achieve a poetic effect.

But it's a pity you chose to focus on that minor criticism of a side-issue, when the point was that I didn't disagree with the main point of your comment. Which, as I say, is what surprised me.

Again you are missing the point. We decomposing into nothing was the main point around which the rest was wrapped up. If all we are are our bodies, protons and neurons, then nothing really matters. Then murderers and war mongers are right in what they do, because it is for the body that they do what they do

Drat, now you've wandered off into sixth-form poetry again. You're a bit like Moonbeam in that respect.

Though you inspired me to google it, and I have to concede that apparently insects do play a role in decomposition, especially in warmer climates. So I've learned something from this exchange at least.

I don’t know anyone from my ancestors beyond grand parents. Neither have any desire to know for that matter.

There is a saying a man dies twice. First when he dies physically. Second when his name is uttered for the last time.

I'd just like to point out you have no idea about the details there within his personal life. Also, life is made up of more than fame and financial success.

And neither do you. When I said on top of the world I wasn't meaning that as piles of money or fame but here's a guy that got to travel to parts of the world most people don't get to see once in their life. He got to do a job that I think has been said he loved, got paid to do it and was adored by many.

If he didn't want to do that anymore then quit, don't cop out and hang your self like some F you to the world.

If he was on top of his world he would not have killed himself. Likewise because someone doesn't have lots of money or fame doesn't mean they are at the bottom of the world. Equating success with money/fame/etc is one of the biggest causes of misery of our society.

Why not? People check out for various reasons regardless of wealth levels.

Again I didn't mean on top of the world as fame or fortune.

Over the last 40 years, Krauthammer accomplished more in any random 10 minute period, from a wheel chair, than any of you worthless, cocksucking pieces of shit have accomplished in your entire lives.

Oh yea? eh nevermind who cares lol.
