The part he's wrong on is that it's not the politicians that are trying to get rich vs poor or right vs left. It's the rich. They have the power but they need something to get the masses to align with them to give them more power and money and act against the masses own self-interest. They are able to divide the working class with these wedge issues and lobby the politicians to push the points to gain the votes.

How American oligarchs created the concept of race to divide and conquer the poor

Pretty similar territory to the issues raised by Heather McGhee

...though I still think there's a degree to which racism exists independently of class. It's so obviously completely intertwined, though. Perhaps particularly in the US.

Very much so.

To paraphrase Chris Rock, "A white man wouldn't change places with me, AND I'M RICH!"

Wasn't this you?

Yeah, I guess it's only good when they confirm your bias, but otherwise irrelevant.

Dude. Just stop.

You know what, I think one could justify agreeing with one celeb while dismissing another. I don't think it's definitively hypocritical to do so, if you just happen to think your preferred celeb has made an articulate case for something you agree with. However, if the point is you think your perferred celeb has just made the case particularly well, and the point is the strength of the argument they make, rather than who is making it, maybe you ought to paraphrase that case in your own words, and not just sit back and expect people to watch a youtube video. Otherwise it does indeed come across like you are appealing to celeb authority in a hypocritical way.

Spot on Heather...
If you want to know why the US has one of the most inefficient health care systems among advanced nations, some of the worst infrastructure and a dysfunctional political system, blame drained-pool politics, she says.
Those politics are built on a lie that many White Americans have bought for centuries: When Black or brown people gain something, White people lose.

Perfect illustration, someone I knew years back who turned to be a full blown Trumper posted this. Perfect illustration because while she is pointing her finger at people on a lower economic rung, she ignored her pocket betting picked by the Trump tax cuts in 2017 which went primarily to the rich and corporations
