My girlfriend is attending grad school at UofM and over her spring break she went down to volunteer with a nonprofit called PNOLA (Phoenix of New Orleans). She asked that I pass the word along that they are competing for a $5,000 cash grant. If they receive the most votes they will receive the $5,000 and a chance to win a $100,000 grant later.

You do have to sign up with the site running the contest (I'm assuming to limit vote fraud) but it is pretty painless. You can vote once a day but any number that you're willing to do will help.

*Note* I have no affiliation with PNOLA, Rezoom.com, etc. My girlfriend is simply passionate about the cause and I wanted to help her out by getting a few more eye balls to check them out. Hopefully, this isn't concidered spam and at least a few people get to read it before its buried with the rest of ATOT posts.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the mass email, but I need to ask for your help. As some of you may know, I went to New Orleans over spring break to volunteer with a small non-profit doing relief work in a very poor neighborhood down there. They're called the Phoenix of New Orleans (PNOLA), and they are really a great group. PNOLA is made up entirely of volunteers who give up 3 to 10 months to gut houses and remove all the nasty mold that is leftover from Hurricane Katrina. They are facing a serious funding crisis right now (and no, I'm not asking for $, please keep reading!) They are up for a grant on ReZoom.com's A Better World contest, and they need people to vote for them. So, if you have a moment, it would be great if you could go to their website at http://www.pnola.moonfruit.com/ and click on the yellow link to vote. It only took me a minute to register at ReZoom, and it would really help them out a lot.

Thanks a lot for helping, and I promise that I'm not going to start sending out multiple emails asking for time or money for charity. This is the last!
