9NEWS has confirmed from two sources that the DNA sample taken from John Mark Karr is not a match with the foreign DNA found on JonBenet Ramsey's body when she was murdered in 1996. 9NEWS has also learned the Boulder County District Attorney's office will not file charges against Karr in connection with the Ramsey case.

Frontpage of CNN.com too. It says the DNA doesn't match at least, nothing about them not filing charges. They'll probably find something to charge him with, probably filing a false police report or something.

Haha what a moron. Hope they bill him for the mess he caused.

Figured it was probably BS when his ex-wife said he was out of the state that Christmas.

I doubt it, how can they prove he didnt do it? He could say he picked up a bum along the street to help him, and let him leave his dna...

This was just a ploy for him to be extradited and convicted so he goes to an American jail as opposed to one in Thailand.

Seriously,

-When you heard form his ex-wofe that she does no recall a christmas without him when they were together

-When he said tat he picked JonBenet from school (6 yrs old at the time, christmas day ?!?)

Did you really think he'd be accused ?
Now the weird part is to send him back to thailand for that other offense he was first arrested for....

It doesn't. But he doesn't have to prove he didn't do it. It's just really hard to make a case against the guy when his DNA doesn't match.

In Colorado that's only a "class 3 misdemeanor," carrying a max sentence of 6 months in jail and a $750 fine or both:

18-8-111. False reporting to authorities.

(1) A person commits false reporting to authorities, if:

(a) He knowingly causes a false alarm of fire or other emergency to be transmitted to or within an official or volunteer fire department, ambulance service, or any other government agency which deals with emergencies involving danger to life or property; or

(b) He makes a report or knowingly causes the transmission of a report to law enforcement authorities of a crime or other incident within their official concern when he knows that it did not occur; or

(c) He or she makes a report or knowingly causes the transmission of a report to law enforcement authorities pretending to furnish information relating to an offense or other incident within their official concern when he or she knows that he or she has no such information or knows that the information is false; or

(d) He or she knowingly provides false identifying information to law enforcement authorities.

(2) False reporting to authorities is a class 3 misdemeanor.

(3) For purposes of this section, "identifying information" means a person's name, address, birth date, social security number, or driver's license or Colorado identification number.
I also don't know whether, as a jurisdictional matter, he could even be prosecuted in Colorado for making false statements to police in Thailand (I'm not licensed in Colorado and can't be bothered to look this up), assuming they can even prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he lied to them.

I imagine they'll just extradite him to California, where he's facing child porn charges that I imagine are almost certainly felonies.

What does it matter if hes accused of that or not? The guy is still obviously a mental nut and a deranged pedophile. Isn't that enough?

Looks like it is back to Thailand to die in a puddle of his own filth...

Did anyone really thing his story was anything other than a ploy to get out of a Thai prison sentence?

In all fairness, this arrest may have spared some kids from being molested, and they can always send him to California, where he has been a fugitive from child-porn charges for several years.

I don't really think that was his motivation, though others may differ. I don't think we have an extradition treaty with Thailand anyway - I still think he's likely to be prosecuted in California before the State Department will let him be shipped off to Thailand (assuming that would ever happen, which frankly strikes me as unlikely).

Well, I guess the media's attempt at distracting the public's attention away from the mess in middle east didn't last long, did it?
