Charcoal or Propane?

It isn't just the taste with charcoal (I'm talking lump/hardwood). Unless you spend big bucks, most propane grills can't match the btu output of charcoal for high temp grilling. I wouldn't even think about trying to smoke something 24 hours uninterrupted and unattended on propane.

why not ask... do you want your food to taste like propane or do you want to stop being lazy and get that old fashion lighter fluid taste like mom used to make?

I've never tasted the "propane taste" and as far as the lighter fluid taste, I actually hate to admit it but I do like it on crappy burgers and such.. yes like dad used to make (who's mom grills?!?!!?). Now if I'm grilling a nice piece of fish/beef I don't want it to taste like that lighter fluid of course.

dont we have these EVERY freaking season it seems?

Each method has its benefits.
Charcoal/Hardwood when I have time and patince to wait on a long weekend night but 95% of the time I use propane for its pure speed.

use per benefits of each source

charcoal--tastes better (but it's a matter of "taste")
propane and propane accessories--easier to cook and clean-up
